Print Settings That Work
205 °C nozzle, 60 °C bed is the profile ELEGOO effectively recommends and it holds up. The bed range runs hotter than most budget PLA, which helps first-layer adhesion on textured plates but makes elephant foot more likely on smooth PEI, so dial in a small first-layer elephant-foot compensation.
Cooling full after layer two. Retraction is undemanding. Speeds to about 150 mm/s look good; beyond that surfaces go slightly rough as the melt struggles.
Print Quality
The finish is a plain semi-gloss with accurate colour. Detail resolution is fine for functional parts and adequate for models, though it does not have the crisp small-feature reproduction of Prusament or the surface evenness of a matte PLA.
Diameter consistency is the pleasant surprise. Prints do not show the periodic over- and under-extrusion that plagues the cheapest no-name spools, and the winding is tidy enough to trust overnight.
Layer adhesion is average PLA. Parts are strong enough for brackets and enclosures and will snap along a layer if you lean on them.
Where It Falls Short
Batch variation exists. A grey spool from one bundle can want a couple of degrees more than the last one, and the occasional spool has a rougher wind that needs watching on long prints.
The colour range is smaller than Overture or SUNLU offer, and specialty finishes are limited. There is no meaningful strength story here either: this is plain PLA, not PLA+.
Verdict
If you print in volume and care mostly about cost per usable part, ELEGOO PLA is the cheapest thing on this site worth buying. Keep a spool of something tougher for parts that get handled, and reach for premium filament only when the print has to be dimensionally exact.

Is ELEGOO PLA worth buying in bulk?
If you print constantly, yes. The multi-kilo bundles bring the per-kilogram price down to the cheapest on this site, and consistency within a bundle is better than between individually bought spools of budget filament.
Does ELEGOO PLA work on non-ELEGOO printers?
Yes. Nothing about it is printer-specific. It is ordinary PLA with an ordinary temperature window and prints the same on a Prusa, a Bambu, or a Creality.
