Quick Summary

Inland is Micro Center’s own label, and its PLA+ has quietly been one of the best value spools in North America for years. It prints in a 205-225 °C window, arrives on a cardboard spool, and produces parts as good as brands charging half again as much. If there is a catch, it is that buying it cheaply means walking into a shop.

215 °C nozzle, 55 °C bed. The PLA+ formulation prefers a slightly hotter nozzle than plain PLA; below 205 °C layer bonding suffers and the surface goes dull.

Cooling full after the first layers. Retraction around 1 mm on direct drive. Speeds up to about 150 mm/s hold quality, beyond which surfaces roughen slightly.

If your spool is the plain Inland PLA Basic rather than PLA+, the window widens to 190-230 °C and the material is a little less tough. Check the label; the two are easy to mix up.

Surface finish is a clean semi-gloss with accurate colour. Diameter tolerance is quoted around ±0.03 mm and holds well enough that extrusion stays even across long prints.

The PLA+ toughness is worth having. Thin features bend and recover instead of snapping, which shows up in clips, hooks, and printer parts that get removed and refitted. Layer bonding is a step above plain budget PLA.

Bed adhesion is dependable on warm PEI, and release is clean. Warping is not a factor.

Where It Falls Short

Availability is the main limitation. The best pricing is in-store, and outside the United States it is essentially unavailable.

Consistency between colours varies a little, and cardboard spools occasionally shed fibres or catch the filament end. Neither is serious, but a spool with a rough flange can snag on a long unattended print.

Verdict

If you can buy Inland PLA+ conveniently, it is the best value everyday filament on this site. Print it for prototypes, functional parts, and anything that would otherwise get a budget spool, and keep something premium on hand only for work that must measure exactly.

What temperature should I print Inland PLA+ at?

Inland lists 205-225 °C at the nozzle with a 45-60 °C bed. 215 °C and 55 °C is a good default. The plain Inland PLA Basic runs a wider 190-230 °C window if you have that version instead.

Is Inland filament rebranded?

Inland is Micro Center’s house brand and the spools are made by established Chinese manufacturers. That is not a criticism: quality tracks the factory, and Inland’s has been consistent for years.

Are the cardboard spools a problem?

They are lighter, recyclable, and occasionally a little rough on the flange, which can catch filament on the last few hundred grams. Most people consider that a fair trade for less plastic waste.
