Quick Summary

Overture’s TPU is the cheap way into flexible printing. At Shore 95A it feeds through a normal direct-drive extruder, prints between 210-230 °C, and makes perfectly good gaskets, cases, and bumpers. The standard spool wants to be printed slowly; if that is the dealbreaker, Overture also sells a high-speed version rated to around 90 mm/s.

220 °C nozzle, 45-50 °C bed, 25 mm/s walls for the standard spool. For the high-speed variant, Overture’s own figure is 225 °C and a 45 °C bed, and it holds together at three times the speed.

Retraction stays low, half a millimetre to one millimetre on direct drive. Cooling around 40%. Keep the filament path short and free of gaps where soft filament can buckle; almost every reported jam traces back to a spool holder with too much drag or an extruder path with a void in it.

Dry it. TPU picks up moisture fast, and Overture spools are not immune.

Layer bonding is excellent, as with any TPU: parts stretch and tear rather than splitting. Bed adhesion is strong on textured PEI without adhesive, and warping does not happen.

Surfaces come out matte with a slight rubbery texture and good colour. Dimensional accuracy is average; soft filament squashes under the nozzle, so holes shrink and press fits need clearance.

Stringing is the usual TPU compromise, worse than a rigid filament because retraction has to stay small. A heat gun cleans it in seconds.

Where It Falls Short

Diameter consistency is the budget compromise. On a long print you can feel it in extrusion pressure, and it shows up as slightly uneven walls on large single-perimeter parts.

The standard spool’s speed limit is the real cost. Printing a phone case at 25 mm/s takes most of a day, and the temptation to speed up ends in a clog.

Verdict

Buy Overture TPU 95A to learn flexible printing without spending much, or as the everyday spool for occasional gaskets and bumpers. If you print flexibles often, the high-speed version or a high-flow TPU is worth the upgrade purely in hours saved.
