Print Settings That Work
260 °C nozzle, 90 °C bed, part cooling off, enclosure closed and pre-warmed. Retraction sits at 0.8-1.4 mm at 20-40 mm/s. Speeds under 300 mm/s are allowed, but on tall parts slowing down helps the chamber keep the print warm.
Dry before printing if the spool has been open: 80 °C for 8 hours in a dryer, or 90-100 °C for 12 hours on an X1 heatbed. ABS is less thirsty than nylon but wet ABS prints rough and smells worse.
For adhesion, textured PEI plus a glue stick beats bare PEI. Large flat bottoms want a brim regardless.
Print Quality
Surface is a satin finish that sands and vapour-smooths better than any other common material, which is why ABS still wins for parts that get finished by hand. Layer adhesion is good in a warm chamber and mediocre in a cold one, so quality tracks chamber temperature almost linearly.
Detail is slightly soft because there is no part cooling to freeze overhangs. Design chamfers rather than steep unsupported geometry, and expect bridges to sag more than they would in PLA.
The finished mechanical properties are the point: usable well above the temperature at which PLA parts start to creep, tough under impact, and easy to drill and tap.
Where It Falls Short
Warping and cracking dominate the experience without a good enclosure. Fumes are noticeable and want ventilation. It yellows under UV, so outdoor parts should be ASA instead.
Bed adhesion is the weakest score here; ABS will happily lift a corner four hours into a print and ruin the rest.
Verdict
Buy Bambu ABS if you have an enclosed printer and need heat resistance, machinability, or vapour smoothing. Buy ASA instead for anything that lives in sunlight, and stay on PETG if your printer is open-frame, because a cracked print at hour six costs more than the filament you saved.

What temperature should I print Bambu ABS at?
The data sheet gives 240-270 °C at the nozzle with an 80-100 °C bed and a 45-60 °C chamber. 260 °C nozzle, 90 °C bed, enclosure closed and cooling off is the profile that finishes tall parts.
Can I print ABS without an enclosure?
Small parts, sometimes. Anything taller than a few centimetres will crack at a layer line as the lower layers cool and contract. The chamber temperature in the spec is doing real work, not marketing.
Should I anneal ABS prints?
Bambu suggests 80-90 °C for 6-12 hours. It relieves the internal stress printing leaves behind, which reduces later warping and cracking in parts that get hot in service. Expect a small amount of shrinkage.
